Matlacha, the gateway to Pine Island, is an historic fishing village and artist community that has a low-key casual atmosphere ideal for
relaxing and exploring all that this "country waterfront" has to offer. Secluded and unique, we wouldn't have it any other way!
Local
restaurants specialize in fresh seafood, while
art galleries and shops are known for their eclectic,
funky items. For all of that, boating and fishing is what we're known for. You could literally spend weeks exploring
Pine Island Sound and still
not exhaust all the possibilities. Local waters are home to pods of
Bottlenose Dolphin and endangered Manatee (gentle giants also called Sea Cows). Keep your eyes on the skies too,
chances are good you'll spot Osprey and Bald Eagle fishing right along with you!
